Digital Management Assesses COMMITS NexGen Procurement Support Software
Bethesda, MD—January 21, 2005—Digital Management, Inc. (www.digitalmanagement.com), the secure e-government solutions company, announced today that it was contracted by the Department of Commerce to analyze and assess the COMMITS (Commerce Information Technology Solutions) Business Opportunities Page for use in supporting COMMITS NexGen, the recently awarded $8B Government-wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC). Digital Management, a COMMITS NexGen Tier 1 awardee, will perform a capabilities assessment of the existing IBM® Lotus® Notes/Domino application and recommend approaches for meeting COMMITS NexGen requirements.
A web-based application, the Business Opportunities Page (BOP) manages the distribution of performance-based task orders, receipt of proposals, and notification of awards. The BOP has served former COMMITS customers and small business contractors since 1999. The launch of the new COMMITS NexGen contracting vehicle marks an opportunity to extend the services offered by the BOP to meet the needs expressed by COMMITS customers and the new NexGen contractors.
"We're honored that the Department of Commerce asked us to evaluate its COMMITS support system," said company president, Jay Sunny Bajaj. "As a Tier 1 COMMITS NexGen contractor, we want the benefits of a robust suite of support capabilities. As a small business, we understand the value of leveraging and extending existing resources. Our task is to give the Department of Commerce COMMITS NexGen administrators a thorough understanding of best-value options for establishing the next generation BOP for their new contracting vehicle."
About COMMITS NexGen
The COMMITS NexGen program is designed to accomplish three objectives:
- Deliver top quality IT services and solutions to meet government organizations' missions
- Deliver IT services and solutions utilizing a streamlined acquisition methodology
- Provide a talented pool of small, small disadvantaged, 8(a), women-owned, veteran-owned, service disabled veteran-owned, and HUBZone small business partners capable of delivering the government's IT requirements
COMMITS NexGen provides federal agencies with an efficient and effective means of awarding IT service and solution requirements, and assists the federal government with acquiring essential IT requirements utilizing high-quality, performance-focused contractors. The program does this through the use of competitively awarded performance-based task orders. Under this acquisition structure, the basic contracts do not contain fixed contract line item numbers (CLINS) or labor categories. Instead, COMMITS NexGen contractors are free to propose the best solution to the specific requirement of each government agency.
A total of 53 awards were made from more than 400 submitted proposals. Awardees are divided into three tiers based on the firm's size. The ten year contract has a combined ceiling value of $8 billion.
